Midwifery
At Wendover OB/GYN & Infertility, we take pride in our dedicated midwifery department.
Amanda Jones, CNM, Meredith Sigmon, CNM, and McKenzie Chasteen, CNM are trained health professionals who help healthy women during labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. Our midwives at Wendover OB/GYN & Infertility deliver babies at Cone Health Women’s & Children’s Center at Moses Cone Health Care. However, due to the current provider shortage, water births are temporarily unavailable. We will resume offering this option as soon as provider availability allows.
Women who choose midwives usually want very little medical intervention and have had no complications during their pregnancy. Because giving birth to twins is more complicated than giving birth to a single baby, many doctors don't recommend using a midwife unless under the direct supervision of a doctor. Here at Wendover OB/GYN & Infertility, if you are considered to be (or become) a high-risk pregnancy, your care will be co-managed by a midwife and doctor. Wendover OB/GYN & Infertility does not support home births and will not accept patients who plan to deliver at home.
Our midwives are both CNMs:
- Certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) are registered nurses who have graduated from an accredited nurse-midwifery education program and have passed a national exam. They can practice in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
